SYDNEY
My Sydney Trip
June 30, 2008
My first day out in Sydney.
Well, its not officially my first day in Sydney because i arrived at 10.30am on 29 June 2008. One thing that i am really thankful for would be meeting Gloria. We met during the transit in Adelaide and when we arrived at Sydney, she helped me out alot because i am rather blind wearing my specs. Yeah.
i somehow manage to lose my contact lens while boarding the plane from Singapore. I was about to join the queue when i felt a little ‘pop’ in my left eye and something jumped out, and lost somewhere on the floor. I couldn’t find it and was in a hurry so boarded the plane with one effective eye. I thought i’ll probably get lost when i reach Sydney soooo.. yeah! Also, thanks for giving me a hand with that 25kg wooden box from the conveyor belt.
Nothing can express my happiness in seeing Jun standing at the arrival hall right outside the gate looking all over for me. He had a most endearing look on his face which made my heart feel so loved. Suddenly i felt a sense of euphoria and a sense of belongingness, i just can’t explain.. But my heart was beating really fast and i didn’t know what to say nor do.. It has been a long time afterall, and i was nervous and excited and its the first time i’ve flown to Sydney, or anywhere else, to spend the holiday with my boyfriend. The whole situation feels unreal. And i love every minute of it.
Jun made me a really nice breakfast of chicken pie, sausages and eggs first thing in the morning in bed. So HAPPY.

‘me and my baby’
The weather is wonderful in Sydney. Its just perfect for a stroll along Circular Quay, which was exactly what we did. I was feeling a bit sick from the plane ride and the thai fried rice i had when i reach Sydney the day before.
However, my mood drastically improved as we walk slowly around the harbour and i was so excited to see the opera house and the bridge for the first time!! It looked kind of like Esplanade Singapore but its more.. surreal, surrounded by the beautiful waters sparkling in the sunlight.

With such perfect surroundings, who wouldn’t feel happy?

On our way to the Rocks, a really cool phone booth. Mmm.

Me with the road signs.
We walked to the Rocks, a historical building where we had our brunch.. I absolutely love the pork ribs with sourcream and sweet chilli and the ultimate crepe is like heaven. I kinda think the crepe is too creamy for my liking though. However, the raspberry sauce and the crepe is really lovely..

feast your eyes..
Afterthat we walk to the City. I was really excited about shopping and was in for a huge disappointment because i can’t find anything to buy! I’m serious! I was totally looking out for things to buy but nothing caught my eye. Everything is overpriced and not worth it.

us in QVB
We also visited QVB, which became one of my fave place to hang out in.. You get a warm and rich ambience from the buildling that only years of heritage could give you. We walked around more and i was actually quite sad because i can’t find anything to buy. Had to comfort myself with the knowledge that i have many more days to shop and buy things..

i feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

beautiful scenery
Anyway, Syd’s shops are kind of like Singapore or anywhere else, with the typical brands and local brands..
We went back after that, the sky darkens really fast and most of the shops close by 6pm. There really wasn’t much to do..
We had a lovely dinner at Giovanni, where we stumbled upon by chance when i was looking for some clam chowder soup. They don’t have that but we ended up eating the best seafood pasta ever!

happy together.
and that concludes my first day in Syd.
